The Impact of High Altitude on Miners
Characteristics of high altitude: As altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, air becomes thinner and density decreases accordingly. These characteristics affect the performance of the miner in three main ways.
- Voltage Breakdown
Miners are more susceptible to voltage breakdown, and this is particularly acute in the power supply section where, due to the presence of high voltage, damage from voltage breakdown is multiplied. - Heat Dissipation
Miners become less effective at dissipating heat, thin air causes less heat to be carried away by the same amount of air, and changes in ambient temperature have a large impact on the miner and power supply, making the miner and power supply operation unstable. - Product Life
Material and lubrication evaporation from the mining machine and power supply fan accelerates, shortening the life of the fan and increasing failure.
Common Plateau Mining Areas
China's high altitude areas are mainly found on four major plateaus: the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau averages 4,000-5,000 metres above sea level; the Inner Mongolia Plateau 1,000-1,400 metres above sea level; the Loess Plateau slopes from northwest to southeast at 800-3,000 metres above sea level; and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau is above 2,000 metres above sea level, with mines on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau being most affected.
In the table below are listed some of the common highland area mines, if your mine is within this range, please pay special attention.

Operating Altitude Standards for Mining Machines
To ensure the longevity of the miner, the miner should be placed at an altitude of less than 2000m to operate.
If the altitude of your mining site exceeds 2000m, it is recommended to always have some replacement parts on hand, taking into account the damage that can be caused to the power supply and fan, refer to the 2% standard for stocking; if the mining machine base is large, the number of single spare parts is recommended to be no more than 30.
