Control board features
The control board uses a new generation of hardware and software. While the appearance of the S9 is different from S7, the user interface will be similar.
For the older batch, the control board is split into two parts: IO board (green) and BB board (black). As for the newer batch, we are putting them together as PCB.
The new and old control boards cannot be used interchangeably with S7 or earlier models.
The Ethernet port is the same as S7, both are RG45 connector and WiFi not supported.
The control board layout is the same as S7, there is an IP Report button on the left, Reset button on the right. At the very right side, there are a fault light and a normal light. The buttons are imprinted with the names as well so that you will know the functions of each button at the first sight.
Hash board features
Every hash board has 63 ASIC chips, that would be almost equal to having the hash rate of one S7!
The S9, just like S7, dissipates heat by using heat sinks. One side is attached by welding, the other is attached by pasting. The height of the hash board is same as S7, while the length is longer than S7.
The newer batches of S9 has 12 less heat sinks, which in turn helps to dissipate heat better.
The installation of the hash board works the same as S7’s “slot & pull” way, which is a better way to protect the hash boards.
Fans
S9 uses two fans with different speeds to ensure that the heat is well dissipated.
The front fan which has a metal netted shield spins at 6000 rpm, albeit it typically shows 5600 rpm. This is the same as the S7. The rear fan spins at 4300 rpm. This feature is very similar to S7 double fans feature.
Miner’s IP
S9 default setting is DHCP mode, the IP address is not fixed
