1.
Issue: The miner has no hash rate. One of the hash board’s temperature exceeds 80 degree Celsius.
Reason: A piece of heat sink is loose or dropped off.
Solution: Remove the hash board that exceeds 80 degree Celsius to repair.
Note: If large quantity of hash boards temperature exceeds 80 degree Celsius, please add cooling devices, as the high temperature will ultimately go into the high temperature protection mode and the miner will shut down. Moreover, the miner can easily get defective when working in a high temperature environment.
2.
Issue: The hash rate is good, but there is no temperature shown on the Miner status.
The hash board is easily burnt if there is no temperature shown for monitoring or when the real temperature is very high
Reason: The temperature detector is damaged on one of the hash boards that lead to the other two hash boards to have the issues on temperature display as well.
Solution: Test the 3 hash boards one by one by connecting to the control board and let it run for about 5 minutes, find the faulty hash board with temperature detection problem and ship it back to repair.
3.
Issue: The hash rate is lower than normal. There is an “X” shown on the Miner status.
Reason: The ASIC chip is damaged, which resulted in the loss of some hash rate on the hash board.
Solution: If that hash board can still work well, you can keep and continue to let it work. There is no need to repair it unless the hash board becomes totally defective.
4.
Issue: The hash rate is lower than normal. There are a lot of “X” shown on Miner status
Reason: The chips are damaged, which lead to the entire hash board running abnormally.
Solution: Remove the hash board to repair.
5.
Issue: The hash rate is lower than normal. There are a lot of “-” shown on Miner status
Reason: It may be caused by instability of the PSU voltage or a defective hash board.
Solution: Replace the PSU and control board-hash board 18 pin ribbon cable. If replacing didn't work, please remove the hash board to repair.
6.
Issue: The hash rate is lower than normal. Some chips are lost. The hash rate is only running at 2/3 of the normal.
Reason: Chain scission of chips
Solution: Remove the hash board to repair.
7.
Issue: The miner has no hash rate. There is X.X.X.X shown on the Hardware Version. Hash board cannot be detected. There is no information shown at all on the Miner status interface.
Cause: The firmware of miner is not detected.
Solution: Power off the miner and reset it. Reload the firmware.
8.
Issue: The miner worked great when it was powered. After awhile, there is no hash rate.
Reason: One of the fans is not detected. Miner will work well only when both fans are detected.
Solution: Switch the control board connection between the two fans to find out which one is defective.
9.
Issue: A large number of Antpools surfaced. Hash rate is normal. There is no use resetting the router.
Reason: One of the computers in the network has been infected by virus or malware.
Solution: Find infected computer and remove the virus or malware.
10.
Issue: Miner can’t find IP. Red light flashing; Green light does not blink
- Reason:The Miner is not connected with the Internet.
Solution: Test the Internet cable, connection and the settings of the Internet (DHCP mode is required).
- Reason: The miner program has not started.
Solution: Reset the miner several times.
- Reason: The application of miner is lost.
Solution: Perform control board recovery
11.
Issue: The miner doesn’t work after powering on despite changing the PSU.
- Reason: There is a short circuit inside one of the hash boards.
Solution: Find which hash board is defective. Remove the defective part to repair.
- Reason: Control board failure
Solution: Change the control board
12.
Issue: PSU can’t work when if the PSU fan is running. Miner works well after changing PSU.
Reason: The PSU is defective. The PSU fan is powered by a different output. The defect can’t be judged by whether the fan rotation power is normal.
Solution: Ship back the PSU to repair.
13.
Issue: Miner restores to factory setting after powering off.
Reason:The software in BB board is damaged.
Solution: Perform control board recovery
14.
Issue: Miners work well for several month before it starts to malfunction.
- Reason: The hash boards were corroded by humidity and lots of dust.
Solution: Remove the defective hash boards, dust the miner and reduce air humidity.
- Reason: Large amount of dust, resulting in congestion in the air duct. Heat can’t be dissipated. Catkins are likely to cause congestion in air duct.
Solution: Remove the defective hash boards, dust the miner and add dust elimination.
15.
Issue: The machine is defective when network changed
Reason: Due to the network setup, miner can’t find the IP.
Solution: Power off and reset the miner.
16.
Issue: S7 malfunction after running for a while. It runs again after rebooting.
-Reason: Temperature exceeds 80 degree Celsius and miner will automatically shut down.
Solution: Increase the amount of air flow.
- Reason: The PGA in BB board weld badly, which lead to miner’s shut down.
Solution: Remove the BB board to repair.
17.
Issue: PSU can’t work but fan is running. All the indicators are off.
Reason: The control board cannot get power as the power circuit in IO board is damaged.
Solution: Switch the BB Board and IO Board with good miner to troubleshoot the defective parts.

Hello, I have been using the Antminer S9 for a long time, and it's very pleasant to work with you, but today I had a problem when I want to go into the configuration configurations. The error 404 - Not Found, could you help solve this problem in advance thanks
no need to do anything unless your HW rate (the percentage underneath “DiffA”) over 0.03%, in that case, your hash power may be compromised, so, try rebooting and pray
Hi,
I have S9 bought in 03/2017 and the 7 hash board is turned off after switching on and does not blink the LED even at start or after.
Do you have any experience with this?
Several times she was dead after a restart but after resting (about 3 hours) or resetting to the factory setting it was OK again 1-2 months.
Now it does not help. PSU OK, control board OK, data cable for hash plate also 100% OK. Nothing was burned, it did not smell and it was visually OK.
Is there a hard reset, resetting error hash boards, etc?
Bitmain claims to send "the entire miner" for a warranty test and repair.
S9 purchased before October 1, 2016 - just send a faulty hash board.
S9 purchased after October 1, 2016 - send the entire miner. That's bad, I come up with all the performance (even good hash boards).
What are your experiences?
And what about the S9 post-warranty service (even those new after October 1, 2016) is also sent to the entire miner?
Thanks for all!
kris,
its a 14th miner
i made hard reset and put 650m software -> shows socket connect error
rebooted many times nothing chamnged
now did hard reset and put auto firmware
it is now online for 55 min and is testing all the time

Below ASIC's core didn't receive all the nonce, they should receive 8 nonce each!
xxxx
here are listed different cores all the time and the test patten also fails all the time
sounds great
first of all, check all your data cable and power cable to make sure the connection is solidly.
when the miner is booting, you can see a red LED on each board goes on and off (in fact, it's two LEDs, very close), the three hash boards is doing self-check, maybe at the same time, maybe not, that is normal. after about 10 to 15 minutes, the LED on hash board will continuous light on, and the green LED on the panel will blink.
in this process, if any of the boards has an LED never light up, or lights out finally, this board will not work properly, if all 3 boards failure, maybe you need to replace the PSU with another normal working one, if you have.
I've had a similar situation, especially when you have lots of miners working at the same time, the power load may be unstable.
Hi because I am new in this after I configure my S9, I can see these...
24 Hours Earnings
Account Balance
Hi Grand, No not necessarily. Thing is, I have received a couple of newer miners that are running this version of software. In the kernel log there is some wording like -
chain[5] temp offset record: 62,0,0,0,0,0,35,28
chain[5] temp chip I2C addr=0x98
chain[5] has no middle temp, use special fix mode.
chain[6] temp offset record: 62,0,0,0,0,0,35,28
chain[6] temp chip I2C addr=0x98
chain[6] has no middle temp, use special fix mode.
chain[7] temp offset record: 62,0,0,0,0,0,35,28
chain[7] temp chip I2C addr=0x98
chain[7] has no middle temp, use special fix mode.
I was just interested in trying this version on some of my faulty miners. Having said that - since the last blog, a miner running this software has now also lost a hashing board....
I tried resetting and loading the firmware you sent me and it is still the same problem. One hash board has completely disappeared from my mining status screen and is 1/3 less the hashing power. I emailed you all the screenshots you requested as well, Please help me thank you.

I live in the United States, I had to ship the miner from the East coast (new York, we were visiting family for holidays) to the west coast( California). Shipping for my house on the 21st of December. Total cost was another $58 but I put insurance. New miner came from China to levelland Texas United States.
As I said it was very quick from my experience with a holiday return. I also return a laptop to newegg.com the same day (doa unit) . I am still waiting on the replacement :(
I was dumb and waited for bitmain support response. I received my somewhat working miner on December 1st. By the time support responsed the bad hashboard full stopped working. It took another 5 days after support responsed of trying something contacting support wait 24 to 48 more hours for another response, try something else wait for response again, and so on.
I understand why support is closed. Imagine the workload of the customer support, people think it's simple ready my response and reply, imagine 20,000 irrelevant support cases open and only 500 related to an actual support case.. then imagine having to help 4000 of those dumb cases just to get to one that matter.
(For instance how many do you think are asking where is my btc it's not confirmed yet, it's just pending)
I would give a hand shake to bitmain support, they deserve honor. You have many different language barriers as well that these people deal with.
@Grand,
I had the same problem. First stay calm, second reset your miner, then load the newest firmware from the Bitmain support page and reboot the miner. Sometimes you have to load the firmware a couple times to make sure it worked. After I reloaded the new firmware to my S9 and rebooted it the missing hash board returned to my S9. Since then I have been too scared to touch it or move pools though lol. Hope you figure it out bro good luck.
Hi...please help me..i just recieved my s9 and i turned on it. But only 2 hashboard are detected..
Hello
Thx
i have 2 miners and with both the same problen. they are brand new!

Releasing new batch of Antminer S9 In Stock Now : https://antminerstock.com
i will appriciate if sb can help me it works only one of three hash boards on my s9. thank you
try & fail, again
Hi, mi new S9 it doesnt works with the 3 has board, i can see one of them in the miner status. What can i do?
I did that, but they won't respond for 10 days due to them being "out of office"
Dear Customer Support!
I place my appeal here, because you do not answer tickets, or because I am from Russia or because you do not have a quality product! The number of my ticket 312615 - can check, I've been waiting for at least some answer since December 27!
Claim: I bought an S9 14T/H on December 14, 2017, connected it, it worked fine - I was pleased and happy. But on December 26, 2017, a hash rate fell. I found a public announcement on the product support website that if a hash has fallen on this model, then you need to make a general reset and update the firmware. I did all the actions on the instructions from the site: https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004448673-S9-Autotune-Hash-rate-is-low, but nothing has changed, I wrote about it detailed in the ticket (with screenshots), but this was just the beginning - the next day my S9 stopped seeing one hash board and no reboots and manipulations do not help, I wrote about this in the same ticket in the same way. I see no answer so far. As a result, I have an S9 with a factory marriage - since the manufacturer posted public instructions - that means the problem in the whole series is probably a bug of firmware or something else. I can not know this - I'm not a programmer or a clairvoyant, I only know that I spent all my savings on this miner because I believed the manufacturer, and now I will be left without a livelihood because the factory with factory marriage and the manufacturer for me spit, no one helped me and did not even answer!
If I knew how to send a complaint to the company's management, the antmayner would send it, but I do not know how to contact them, the last thing I can do is post this story publicly about how happy I am from buying the best at the moment an asic miner!
It is especially insulting that all this happens during the New Year celebration, when everyone is happy and receiving gifts, and I received a maynes with a factory marriage and the indifference of the producer! Thank you from the heart!
I suggest to try to reboot the unit many times until the hashing board start normally otherwise you should need to clean the board.
please help, I test the hashboard one by one. the the result is one hashboard resulting abnormal rate. 158Ghs instead of 4000Ghz.
thanks
I had to do the firmware upload twice and reboot the miner before all 3 hash boards showed back up. I also powered down the miner after the firmware upgrade for a few minutes and then powered it back on, not sure if that makes a difference. Try it bro. Good luck.
Hello
I have a problem with S9 - it seems to be working but there's no accepted shares. I described problem in detail here - https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/requests/376825
Maybe someone had similar problem and know where to look? It seems that hardware is ok, but there's some software problem. I've already tried to fix it in repair shop and they did, but after 1.5 days of work it doesn't accept shares again.
If someone had similar issue please give me a hint what do I need to fix?
Hi Edward. Yep, been calm until recently - done all that several times. No response. Switched the board to other miners and still no response. Bitmain also feels these are faulty hash boards. The irritation is really the evasive and dismissive attitude that Bitmain has adopted. But, we wait and see. Thanks for the advice anyway.
Pato, i had to send this miner in the picture in for repair, i received it on December 8th, it didnt work from day one, I submitted a request on here https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I was told to do many steps then was told to send it in for repair.
Hey guys,
If you are tired of clicking through the web pages checking you asic miners check out very small and simple tool. It gives you the full picture about your magic boxes in one single view. I developed it for my own purposes and have been using it for several months already. Now I can share it and it's absolutely for free.

I just received L3+ today from batch Aug 28-Sep 12, I was power on it and found asic status is "x" that mean chip damaged!!!! What should I do? Just receive and power on it. This is a new L3+? and How about your QC ?
